Today (13.12) we went to Langford reef and blue pearl bay. It was a snorkelling trip on a sailing catamaran. First we got on the boat, and started to sail on the deep blue sea.
I was sun bathing when the diving instructor, Naomi, came and asked if we wanted to help put up the sails. Even though it was hard work, it was great fun!
As we neared the first site, Naomi came round the ship giving muffins to everyone.
When we got there, I jumped in, and straight away we saw a gigantic sea turtle. I dived down and touched it. It was amazing!!! We carried on swimming, and saw loads more turtles. Some were swimming beside and below us. We saw other fish nibbling at the turtles to get the algae off.
After an hour of snorkelling, we moved on to blue pearl bay; it took about half an hour to get there. Some of the other people on the trip were diving or learning to dive, but as we were snorkelling, a tender boat, which was a small speed boat, took us to the beach. The beach was made of shells and coral. We had to to snorkel straight off the beach. I saw a nemo and its family in its anemone. A guide from another ships was feeding the fish to show them a big fish they had named Priscilla. Soon a huge fish came, and started eating. I managed to touch her.
When it was time to go, naomi came to pick us up in the tender boat, and take us back to the main boat. She let Megan and I drive the boat.
Once we were back on the sail boat, I went straight to the bow where i stayed for the whole journey back. The skipper, Joseph, let megan steer the boat for a short time.
When we got back to the harbour, they gave the divers a certificate, then we went home.
TODAY WAS AWESOME!
Megan & Emma! I've just been reading your blog. I can't believe how many amazing places you've been to and interesting things that you've done in only 4 or 5 weeks! Here in Oxspring, nothing much has happened (though I did have an interesting wildlife encounter yesterday when I found a rat making a very cosy nest in our compost bin!) Also really impressed by your writing: no spelling or punctuation mistakes AT ALL and very gripping. Will get Tom & James to have a read tonight to inspire them! Maybe when we're walking to school in the wind and the rain this week, we'll close our eyes and imagine that we're swimming with you in that blue, blue sea. (Don't think it'll work though: we'll just end up falling over or bumping into a lamp-post! :( ) Hope you all have a lovely Christmas and lots more fantastic adventures.
