Elephant village by Megan

Yesterday I saw a sign outside one of the spa parlours that said 'Fish massage'. My dad said we could do it later that night...which we did!!! It was a strange feeling at first however we soon got used to it. Emma and I put our feet in, but they didn't seem to attract any fish. On the other hand, as soon as my dad put his feet in, the fish all flocked over. This is the first thing my mum wimped out on, as she hates anything touching her feet.

After  that we walked further along the road to the night market. There were lots of stalls selling textiles and souvenirs, but once you had walked past about 4, they were all the same. It was really busy yet very few people were buying anything.

Today we went to an elephant sanctuary. All the elephants were female apart from the new baby named Maxi. His Mum became pregnant with him while she was working in the logging industry. The sanctuary rescued her, and she gave birth at the camp. If she hadn't been rescued, Maxi may not have lived. Maxi was very playful and tried to push me over a couple of times. He'd play all snugly, and then suddenly try to push you over with his head (he wasn't harmful).

We rode the elephants through a deep river, but still the elephants could stand up. I was allowed to slide down onto the neck of the elephant. I think I was only supposed to stay on there for a photo, but the mahout  (elephant rider) let me stay there all the way back to camp (naughty, naughty).

Afterwards we fed the elephants leaves from pineapple trees, and bananas still in their skins.

We went to a waterfall to cool down called Tad Sae waterfall. The water was very clear and blue with no living creatures in it. My dad, Emma and I stood on top of the rocks where the waterfall was flowing down.

I really enjoyed my day and would love to go there again.
