Alms procession and Pak Ou caves by Megan

On Saturday we got up early  to go and see the monks on their early morning alms procession (the procession starts at 6am).  Every morning they walk all through the town in bare feet, getting sticky rice from the people of the town.  some other tourists were quite ignorant, and kept talking loudly to their guide during the procession. They also got very close to the monks to take pictures.

After that we tried to go back to bed, but we couldn't manage to get back to sleep.

Later, we got on a tuk tuk (which is a van or a motorbike pulling along a trailer which people can sit in.)

We asked the driver to take us to Pak Ou caves. The journey was very windy and bumpy. When we arrived at the village, we took a boat across the river and went into the first cave. It was filled with Buddha statues.

When we had finished we climbed some stops to the higher cave which you needed a torch to see in (we had our head torches with us). There were lots of children on the steps trying to sell you items for money.

When we returned to the village to get our tuk tuk, we were dripping with sweat, so we decided to go to an outdoor pool called 'la pistoche'. There were lots of young people there and the pool was playing loud music (it was called hip-hop Saturday, but Mum and Dad said it was dance music). (Note from Katy; felt like we were in Magaluf, so Dean and I had a couple of cocktails to fit in!!) There was a wooden bridge and I kept jumping off.

I was really glad that I got to cool off at the pool.
