Phillip Island part 1; Megan

On Saturday, we went on a trip to Phillip Island, which is an island not far from Melbourne. We went to see the penguin parade (which Emma is writing about), however as this doesn't start until after dark, we visited a couple of other places first. The first place was Maru koala and animal park, where you could stroke koalas, and hand feed emus and kangaroos.
I especially liked feeding the kangaroos, as they were gentle.
One of the kangaroos seemed to like being tickled under the chin, as I did this to her, and when I stopped she put her paw on my arm as if to ask me to continue. Our second stop was Panny's chocolate factory where we went for the behind the scenes tour.
There were lots of hands on activities, including ones where you could win prizes of large chocolate balls. For example, in one game you had to try to bat a ping pong ball into a hole by moving a penguin's wing. Emma and I won 4 prizes each on different games.
You also got to design and make your own chocolate bar by picking the colour of chocolate and some flavours. Another activity involved making a small chocolate shape by moving a nozzle that was piping runny chocolate onto a moving conveyor belt of greaseproof paper.
I enjoyed the daytime on Phillip Island, but the best was still to come in the evening... (See Emma's blog)
