Shotover Jet by Megan

Yesterday (8.1.14) we arrived in Queenstown. Like the day before, it was very cold. As usual we went for a walk around to find out where we were. We then went for a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant, before we went back to the hotel and collapsed into our beds!! Thankfully today was a lot warmer. Queenstown is known for its beautiful sights, such as mountains, and the lake that it is built around.
It is also known for its many adventurous activities, such as bungee jumping, white water rafting and jet boating. Today we went on a jet boat.
We got a bus to the shotover river, got on the boat and set off. We headed up the river so we could turn around, this was our first 360 degree turn. The driver gave us a handsignal that showed us that he was about to turn . We got REALLY wet!! Loads of spray came up over the side. We sped down the river, getting really close to the rocks at the side. My mum had to close her eyes the whole way down. We did loads of spins and skids, but surprisingly they didn't make us dizzy . The water was 5-10cm deep in places, but the boat could still go over, even though it weighed about 3 tonnes!! We were going at 85 km an hour (50 miles an hour). At one point we had to duck as the rock beside it was really low! It took my breath away. Can you spot us in the boat?
This trip was awesome!! When we got back, we played in a small park next to the lake. After we had played for a while, my Dad gave Emma and I some money, and we went over to the stall renting 3wheeled aqua bikes and different types of boats. We went out in an aqua bike. While we were out, we took off our shoes and dipped our feet in. The water was freezing cold. It was hard work to pedal the aqua bike.
This day was very memorable, and I will never forget it!
