The Luge by Megan
Today we went to the luge. The luge is like a go kart down a track, but going down a mountain. There were two different tracks (fast and slow.) First I went down the slow one to get a feel of what it was like, but then I went on the fast track for all my other goes. It was really really fun!!! On the fast track there were loads of hills, so it was really quick. My mum went on the slow track, and screamed the whole way down. I raced my Dad down the fast track, and we beat each other twice. Other times we didn't race. We got to go down six times each, but my mum only went down once! She didn't like it at all. Ha ha ha! At one point my Dad came off the track he was going so fast! The track was one and a half kilometers long.
After we had finished all our goes, we stopped for lunch. The view from the top was amazing. You could see all of Queenstown. (You can see our Hotel in the last one; look for the brown roofs)
There were some people paragliding from the top of the mountain, and bungee jumping from the side of the mountain. There was also a couple getting married then going to an island, so they had a helicopter taking them.
When we had finished lunch, we got on the gondola to go back. We were very high, and it was very steep.
Once we reached the bottom, we headed back to the hotel to get some towels, and then drove to the lake. Even though it was boiling hot outside, the lake was freezing. It was the coldest water I have ever swam in. Despite it being so cold, some other people were staying in it for ages. There was a diving platform in the lake. The only problem was, when you reached the platform and got dry, you had to swim all the way back again!
We also played in the park, and in a very tall tree. We drove back to the hotel, and went for a nice walk along the lake.
I had been looking forward to the luge for ages, and it was definitely worth the wait!!
