Manly by Megan
Today we went to Manly to visit our new friend Gail and her grandson Lucas. (If you go back to when we went Halong bay, that is were we met Gail) We took the ferry to Manly, and waited next the the beach to meet them. We were looking forward to catching up with Gail, and we had never met her grandson, so we were really excited. We spotted Gail, and headed down to the beach. We put on our swimming costumes, and headed out to the sea. The water was freezing, but we soon got used to it. Lucas didn't go very far out as he didn't like the waves. The waves were really big, and there were loads of people surfing. After we had a play in the sea, we started to make some sand sculptures. By the time we had finished, we were all covered in sand. We stopped for lunch on the beach, and then set off down to the water again. Gail spotted a really big hole in the sand. It took forever to get Lucas out of it as he was having so much fun. Ha ha!! The sky was cloudless, and a pilot was skywriting adverts for the lotto draw that night.
We got washed off, and then went on a walk to get ice cream. Emma and I got vanilla, and Lucas got chocolate. After 5 minutes Lucas had a moustache of chocolate. We said good bye to Gail and Lucas, and then went on a walk to shelly beach; we didn't really go on the beach- there was a pool made out of sea water right next to the sea. My mum and dad sat down on a grass bank, and Emma and I headed to the pool. It was really cold.
After we had had a swim in the pool, we headed into the sea next to some rock pools. There were loads of fish that were all different shapes and sizes.
My mum called us over as she had spotted a water lizard near the rocks. They were really funny.
After a while, we headed back to Sydney. We went for a walk round the opera house which was starting to get busy, as there was a performance on that evening.
Then we headed to Darling Harbour again for the final time. The huge cruise ship that had been in circular quay started to moved off at the same time as us- people were waving to us from the ship.
We went to Darling harbour to see some more fireworks. They were really huge and bright. At one point I couldn't look at them as they were so bright!
This was our very last full day in Australia, and we are all very sad to be leaving as we have had an amazing time!
